artist statement
My work is rooted in reverence of nature, color, and the way familiar objects can become strange, playful, or unexpected when viewed differently. I am drawn to organic forms—particularly plants, flowers and landscapes—and use them as a starting point for exploring memory, emotion, pattern, and imagination.
I work primarily through painting and illustration, often combining bold color, layered shapes, expressive mark-making, and elements of abstraction. My Ephemeral Garden series examines the fleeting nature of plants and the shadows they create, transforming botanical forms into atmospheric compositions that sit somewhere between observation and imagination. Other works incorporate Rorschach-inspired forms and symmetrical imagery, inviting viewers to find their own interpretations within the shapes.
Alongside my studio practice, I create murals and commissioned artwork that bring this visual language into personal and public environments. Since 2013, I have completed large-scale murals for a variety of spaces, including homes and businesses.
Whether working on a small painting, a children's book illustration, or a large-scale mural, my goal is to create artwork that feels joyful, visually engaging, and a little unexpected—work that encourages the viewer to pause, look closer, and discover something new.
